The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-School of Nursing (UMDNJ-SN), was founded in 1990. UMDNJ School of Nursing offers various nursing programs, research and educational mobility. Different types of Nursing programs offered by the school includes, the Baccalaureate (BSN), Master’s (MSN), Post-Master’s Certificate (PMC) and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) provide an educational stepping stone for advanced education. A joint Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Urban Systems (Urban Health specialization available) is also offered by the school, along with extensive continuing education opportunities, for aspiring healthcare professionals, who aim to pursue higher or advance degrees.
The school has campuses at Camden, New Brunswick/Piscataway, Newark, Scotch Plains and Stratford, where educational, research and service programs are offered.
The Mission of UMDNJ-SN is to promote health care excellence by offering quality, competent, innovative education to nurses and other professionals. The school accepts its responsibility and commitment for competent clinical practice, scholarship, advocacy for underserved populations, and the diverse communities served by the school.

- Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (CHE-MSACS) has granted accreditation to The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.
- The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) has accredited UMDNJ-School of Nursing.
- Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists has accredited school’s Nurse Anesthesia Program
